It seems with ever Microsoft product offering, controversy soon follows. Microsoft Smart Tags, used to link words on a web site to specific outside web sites without the webmaster's consent, this the newest issue. Simply, Microsoft will insert links where links were not intended to go, a feature that is, by default, turned off through Office XP and not offered at this time through the newly introduced Windows XP operating system. However, some webmasters, like myself, would rather not take the chance and include a meta tag which will prevent the smart tags from executing.
To use this meta tags, insert the following into the head portion of your document:
<meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="TRUE">
